About
A small studio that ships like a big one.
Two people, plus AI tools we have spent years learning to run well. That is the whole team, and it ships fifteen live systems.

The Journey
Twelve years building software products across fintech, logistics, e-commerce, and developer tools. I founded a startup acquired by Sky.Garden, spoke at TEDx, and have spent my career shipping products people rely on. Today I run Kaara Works as a lean studio in Nanyuki, alongside a small human team. We build custom software for operators in Kenya and across Africa.
The Origin
His third name is Gakaara. In Kikuyu, it means builder. It is also his father's name.
When it came time to name the consultancy, he didn't reach for something clever. He took the heart of Gakaara and called it Kaara Works. Not a brand. His father's meaning on a foundation.
That's the whole story, really. Some people build because it's a career. Isaac builds because it's in the name.
How We Ship
Kaara Works is a small studio. Two people plus AI tools handle a running backlog across every active engagement. We build custom software for operators in Kenya and across Africa: CRMs, compliance platforms, ordering systems, member apps, tourism sites.
The AI tools are not a marketing line. They are software that handles repetitive work: drafting, testing, checking, formatting. We direct them and own every decision. You get the throughput of a larger shop at the price of a studio.
What We Build
Custom platforms with automation baked in. Internal systems that let a 3-person team do the work of 30. Products engineered so your leanness becomes your advantage, not a constraint.
Values
Radical Transparency
You see the work as it happens. You see the code. You see the process. No black boxes, no summaries-only updates.
Full Ownership
Your code, your tools, yours to keep. No vendor lock-in. We hand over everything when we are done.
One Direct Line
You work directly with the people building your software. No account managers, no handoffs, no layers between you and the work.
Leanness Over Headcount
We would rather build you a system that removes the need for 10 hires than staff up a team of 10.
